Darkness and intimacy
Tonight some 84 countries around the world will share a moment of darkness in the energy saving ecological measure proposed to save resources and extending the idea of using our resources with more conscience. An idea that could be extended to for instance, once in a month for homes, or even be declared as binding by the government in the countries willing to participate; then the famous say that if all the Chinese decided to jump at the same time they would provoke a disaster could be extended to a whole world together for good issues. Together to save our Earth.
Now some words regarding darkness that occur to me tonight-
Strong and abundant light shed on a person’s face is known to be a means of pressure in police interrogations. The person is fully seen and it seems that it is natural for a human and other beings to want to be private to feel power; being that one’s face shown with every movement tells our feelings, emotions, thoughts and intentions, leaving the observed with no secret agenda.
The night… darkness with it.
Even if no one is around I feel private and cozy with darkness as though a ghost could observe me in full artificial light in my bedroom.
But… what about old times obliged no light or dim candle lights. My guess to the every person’s image of times prior to light-bulbs seen our humanity as non-developed and stagnated is that we regard ourselves in those times as stagnated because we see with our inner eye –our visual recreation thanks to movies, books and stories- people in darkness, carrying a candle and in total obscurity.
Really, try to picture out what you would think of ourselves in Middle-Age, be it that there was electricity in the night… we would love our past so much more. And although I don’t intend to talk explicitly about it, I will write at another moment something about humankind’s painful esteem in regard to our AC - till industrial age extension of history.
Some words about darkness in the night with it’s healing and repairing powers… and it’s advocating love making in the night, or in a robbed night at the cinema in the 80’s…
Me.
